Billing

Your initial paperwork will include a credit card billing form.  This card is kept securely in your file and will be billed on the Friday after each session.  Billing is done through Simple Practice or Square.  You will be sent a receipt of this charge via email.

At Empowering Families we recognize that therapy costs can add up quickly.  We therefore offer a limited number of lower cost slots.  At this time, the reduced rate is $70 per session. While we do not ask for proof of financial need, your therapist will review this with you every 3 months to determine if the lower rate is still necessary.  We trust that our clients will not take malicious advantage of this policy and hope to provide services to those who have legitimate financial needs.    

Empowering Families will soon be offering a limited number of CCHA and Colorado Access Medicaid slots.  If you or your child has Medicaid it is very important that you NOT pay out of pocket for services unless it is specifically approved under your plan.  Paying any amount, even at a reduced rate, may cause you to lose your Medicaid benefits.  

Currently, Empowering Families does not take  private insurance.   Please see the sections below regarding Out of Network Insurance billing and HSA /FSA cards.  We are also happy to provide referrals to practices that do take your insurance.  

It may be advantageous to apply for out of network reimbursement through your insurance company.  This typically requires a statement known as a "superbill" to document your sessions and payments.  If you would like to receive a superbill please let us know.  Superbills are typically provided quarterly.  

It is possible to use an HSA  or FSA card .  Typically this works almost identically to a regular credit card.  Please check with your HSA or FSA to ensure that you may use your card for mental health services.
